Laura's tips for a good night's sleep while traveling
Share
For me, traveling is one of the most wonderful ways to relax: discovering new cultures, finding inspiration, sampling local dishes... but let's be honest, it also takes a toll on your body. Flying, in particular, can throw you off balance, and if you're prone to sleep problems, jet lag, or stress, you'll probably recognize this.
I personally suffer from a bit of fear of flying, so I've developed a routine to calm my mind and body. These tips help me relax even high above the clouds and, with a bit of luck, sleep deeply.
1. Start a pre-departure ritual
Before a long flight, I always make sure I have a nutritious, balanced meal. Something with protein, fiber, and healthy fats to keep my blood sugar levels stable. For example, a bowl with salmon, avocado, and vegetables. I also make sure I drink plenty of water and supplement with a collagen-rich drink or supplements that support my energy and skin. (My skin always dries out in airplane air conditioning!)
2. Create your own sleeping package
A few small comfort items really make a difference. My carry-on always contains: a sleep mask, earplugs, a pair of thick socks, and my favorite lavender oil. One drop on my temples or pillow, and I instantly feel more calm. Don't forget your blue light filtering glasses, ideal if you're reading or watching a movie before bed.
3. Choose a soothing drink
While a glass of wine at 10,000 meters can be tempting, I prefer something that truly helps me relax: herbal tea. Chamomile is my favorite. I pack a few tea bags in my bag and simply ask for hot water on board. Much kinder to your body and your sleep.
4. Use natural support
When my body needs a little extra help, I rely on natural supplements. For example, I take our Sleep Support with me if I'm having trouble falling asleep in an unfamiliar environment. It contains calming herbs to help the body relax without feeling drowsy or drowsy. In the days before my trip, I like to use Magnesium Citrate or Relax Support , especially when I'm feeling nervous.
5. Breathe consciously
What really helps me? Breathing. A few minutes of calm abdominal breathing can do wonders for your nervous system. Whenever I feel tension building, I close my eyes and consciously breathe in and out. You don't need an app, just you and your breath. Although a guided meditation through my favorite music app can also be helpful.
6. Create your own cocoon
Even on a crowded plane, you can create your own mini-sleep environment. I dim my screen, put on my sleep mask, and listen to soft meditation music through noise-canceling earbuds. By turning off light and sound, you're signaling to your body: it's time to rest.
7. Let go of control
Can't sleep? That's okay. I used to get frustrated if I stayed awake, but now I know rest is just as valuable. Sometimes I use those moments to journal, visualize, watch a good show, or just close my eyes and breathe for a moment.

Flying doesn't have to drain your energy. With the right preparation, self-care, and natural support, you can stay balanced even while traveling.
